Statement on the passing of Miles Lerman, Chairman Emeritus of the United States Holocaust Museum.

Miles Lerman was the foundation upon which the United States Holocaust Museum was built.  Without him there may never have been this beacon of memory standing in our Nation's Capital along side the other monuments of liberty and justice.  As our champion fund raiser, he was the voice of conscience for all who perished in the Holocaust, as well as the proud representative of those who with unparalleled courage took up arms in resistance of the Nazi Wehrmacht.  On a personal note, Miles Lerman was instrumental in encouraging my efforts to create the Committee of Conscience, a hallmark of the HSMM's unending commitment to eradicate genocide from the face of the planet.  Miles, we cherish your deeds and your memory.
